The target demographic of self-storage users are people in a transitional phases of life. These people typically fall into two categories: young adults and seniors.

Young Adults

The young adults tend to be more mobile because they don't own homes. College students are perfect for self storage facilities to go after as they move out of the dorms every summer and go home for a few months.

Seniors

Seniors tend to rent units to keep the personal items they have acquired throughout their lives in order to move into a smaller, less expensive and easier to manage home.


Other Groups Storage Facilities Target

Apartment renters, mobile home owners and military personnel are also key targets for renting storage space as their location is never quite permanent. Also many apartments and moblie homes have very limited storage space so they will need a place to keep their belongings safe.
